出家法號：釋惠敏

1954年出生於台南市，1972年皈依三寶。
1975年台北醫學院藥學系畢業，並取得藥師證書。
1978年通過中醫師檢定考試。
1979年依止西蓮淨苑智諭法師出家。
1985年中華學術院佛學研究所結業。
1986年通過日本交流協會獎學金考試，赴日留學。
1989年以《「聲聞地」之種姓論與資糧論》取得東京大學碩士(印度哲學)學位。
1992年復以《「聲聞地」中『所緣』之研究》取得同校博士(文學)學位。
曾任國立藝術學院學務長(1994-1997)。
現任(2009)職務︰國立台北藝術大學代理校長(民國2006年1月25日始)、國立台北藝術大學教務長(民國2000年8月始) 、國立台北藝術大學共同學科教授 (民國1999年6月始)、西蓮淨苑住持 (民國1998年6月始)、中華電子佛典協會主任委員 (民國1998年2月始) 、法鼓佛教學院校長。
